Women in Politics

Women's representation in politics is a worldwide problem, seeming to stall out at about 20% representation.

The U.S. is well behind that. A factoid I uncovered last year about the Senate: 50 total women have served in the U.S. Senate since its establishment in 1789. That means that if EVERY SINGLE WOMAN who has ever served in the Senate in the past 229 years were serving RIGHT NOW, we would only have just reached parity.

Emily's list, an organization geared at helping women run for elected office, experienced a boom after Trump, going from a previous high of 900-some candidates to over 25,000 women interested.
